GROWING WITH JACKLYN
As I embark on my professional career, I hope to experience lots of joy and growing moments. While mistakes don't define us, they can help us cultivate our preexisting characteristics.

EDUCATION
As an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I'm working towards my Bachelors of Arts degree in Environmental Studies with an interest in Public Health and minors in Professional Writing and Earth Science. I aspire to find a career that allows me to exercise my lab and field experience, improve the environment, and help others. Some skills I've acquired through my experiences include planning events for the UCSB Zero Waste Committee, using a YSI meter to collect water quality data, monitoring sea turtle behaviors, and communicating scientific information in an accessible and creative manner. As a research assistant for the UCSB Healthy Beverage Initiative, I am assisting with a life cycle assessment on UCSB's sugar-sweetened beverages, managing working groups, and collaborating with stakeholders. INTERESTS
I'm a curious and adventurous gal who loves to travel, laugh, and be surrounded by friends and family. When I'm not in class or at work, you can find me relaxing on the beach, sitting next to a campfire, or painting. I'm also trying to reduce my waste by being more conscious of the items I consume and toss out. By rethinking, reusing, and recycling, we can all do something to minimize our global impact.

STUDY ABROAD IN OSTIONAL, COSTA RICA
Traveling with BiomaTravel, we volunteered to collect data on the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles' nesting behaviors while learning about the Pura Vida culture. We stayed with host families and learned techniques on how to conduct a research project. We patrolled 4 hours every night, going up and down the beach, searching for nesting sea turtles. If we were lucky enough to spot one, we measured her carapace, flipper, depth of her nest, counted her eggs, and timed her birth. While this was my first time abroad, I embraced the unique culture and the activities we participated in.
