I've been terrible. Terrible with my choices and simply trying to hold myself accountable. I went to the grocery store with Jackie last Friday and it went well in terms of overall packging content, but bought mochi ice cream, a cooked chicken, and shrimp from the market. I chose the cooked chicken because it's the easiest way for me to make meals- simply shred it and microwave it. It's so easy!!! I bought shrimp from the market, but it was also packed in waxy paper. I understand why... but it's still frustrating. In terms of living low waste, we have to consider our greenhouse gas emissions and food waste as well. Does the packaging enhance the life of the product to last longer? Or is it unnecessary? Food waste is a huge part of whether the greenhouse gas emissions are worth the input. So I'm now going to try to be more aware of that idea so that I reduce my food waste while buying less packaging.
